While it may take some time and a lot of effort to desensitize your dog to loud noises, it is in their best interest. Avoiding everyday sound is nearly impossible, and keeping your dog cooped up in a quiet room all day is not a good quality of life.
As an owner it may be upsetting to witness your pet responding fearfully, but keep in mind that what you're doing is the right thing.
Animals who have serious anxiety during thunderstorms or fireworks frequently get out and end up hit by a car or find themselves in bad situations.
Be patient, hire a trainer if need be, but don't give up!
