There are a variety of "natural horsemanship" theories available to horsepeople these days. There's Parelli, Join-Up, etc as well as combinations and modifications of all of those. Natural horsemanship saved my relationship and partnership with my competition horse, and made a huge difference in the behavior of my recently started mustang. It at the very least created a level of understanding between us that increased the closeness of our partnership. I think there isn't one particular theory that works for everyone, it is more of a trial and error to find what works best for you and your partner. It is more about listening to what your horse is telling you than anything else.
