First and basic step of owning a puppy should be training from day one.
In both training and enrichment scenarios an stimuli is presented to animal, which will/should respond with proper behavior. Enrichment can present stimulus that have an aim to stimulate mental development as well as to stimulate species-appropriate behavior.
The small difference is that training by itself has the goal to extract certain behavioral patterns as desirable, and to eliminate unwanted ones as much as those unwanted ones maybe may be natural for the animal.
Training trough enrichment and games and positive reinforcement is probably the best way to train. First, your animal will learn and play at the same time, and most importantly it is a great way to form a strong relationship with the owner.
