Every little thing that you are planning to do to your horse, should start with a solid foundation of groundwork. Even deworming and medication. It's not a natural thing for horses to have stuff shot up their mouths or sharp needles piercing their skin, and any horse can come to resent this and show it in negative behavior. Best to work out how to make this a positive experience for the horse, and you'll never have any real trouble medicating your horse.
