Whether it's a foal or a 10 year old, it is never too late to start laying a good foundation with groundwork. Get the horse used to being touched everywhere, and lightly slap the horse all over the areas that are normally used for needles, whether neck or chest. If it is the mouth, offer the horse a sweet treat in a syringe. Just a little bit of effort from your part can work wonders towards a happy and calm horse during medicine time.
