Mares can be "moody" because of a lot of reason. Sometimes it is hormonal, putting her on some type of hormone medication might help to balance the swings and aggression. Mares can also be in pain and trying to tell the owner that they need help, some mares have reproductive issues just like people. Other times mares just like their space and do not want people r other horses invading it. Have your mare checked by a vet to rule out any medical problems. You can also start with environmental changes to see if that works. We have one mare that doesn't like to be turned out or to be stalled by other horses. We also have to make sure to only work with her outside of the stall. She had a bad experience with people invading her safe space and we respect that. Since doing this her attitude has improved.
