Foals like to chew on everything just like all babies, they sometimes like to chew off other horses tails. The foal my mare nursed ate most of her tail off. There are a few things you can do to make it not so fun. You can try braiding the mares tail and put it in a tail bag or a long sock. The other thing you can do is spray the tail with something either bitter or hot. Tail chewing can lead to digestive issues so it is best to try to stop the behavior.
