Not a Great Choice When Starting Young Horses

This bit is specialized to correct certain difficulties that you may encounter. When you are starting a young horse, you should use a plain snaffle. Once your young horse understands the bridle, as well as some of the basic concepts behind riding, you can adjust your bit choice to fit your particular horse. However, I do not recommend starting off with a pelham. Give your horse some mileage in a snaffle, and use the pelham if it is the right choice later on!
