Some birds are believed to pluck their feathers due to hormones. The disorder often first manifests when the bird reaches sexual maturity. Treatment with Lupron (Leuprolide acetate) which reduces the bird's follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormones (LH) has been shown to help some birds.
As with any treatment, you should always follow your veterinarian's advice.
