Benadryl can be used to treat itching or an allergic reaction in a cat. It can be an effective treatment method for such disorders but it will not treat a cat who sprays and marks. Spraying is a natural action that all cats start when they reach sexual maturity. They spray to mark their territory, drive off rivals, and find a mate.
The only way to stop any cat from spraying is to have the animal neutered. In almost all cases, neutering will stop a cat from spraying.
