I bought the Adaptil collar for my dog because she suffers from pretty serious anxiety. I wanted to try a non-drug solution for her symptoms. Adaptil, a DAP (dog appeasing pheromone) came highly recommended from several dog owners and professionals, though my vet said it only works for certain dogs.

The collar is a silicone-type material. It has a slight smell when you first open the package, but this quickly dissipates. My dog was interested in the collar when I first removed it from the package, but when she wore it, it didn't seem to have much effect on her. She continued to shake and whine while stopped at streetlights on our walks.

I did notice that she seemed slightly less nervous about being left alone. The effect was subtle at best. I am not sure how the diffuser and spray products would work, or if they would even be effective for my dog. I think this is a product that really works for some animals, but my pup just isn't one of them.
