Despite popular belief, a dogs nose is not the key to its hydration levels. A dehydrated dog may still have a wet nose and vice versa. Instead the best indicator is your dogs behavior and skin. The skin snap test is an easy first indicator; all you need to do is gently pull your dogs skin up (about 1 to 2 inches) and observe how long it takes to snap back into place. If the skin snaps back into place quickly, then they are probably drinking enough. If not, then they are perhaps dehydrated. After this test observe your dogs behavior, how often are they going to the toilet? Do they seem tired? Are they panting? If you have any concerns then best get a second opinion.
