I clipped my parakeets wings because they were easier to handle and I had a cat who was just fixated on them so it was easier for me to keep them separate without flying capabilities. I was able to get them in their cages quicker if I needed to leave the room and just felt safer knowing I could handle them. I was eventually able to clip their wings by myself after watching a friend do it a few times. It shouldn't hurt the bird and as long as their wings stay clipped shouldn't really cause any behavioral problems. It's kind of difficult and scary, but as long as you stay confident and know your birds behavior well, you should be able to pull it off. If not, get a professional to do it.
