I used to clip the nails of my cats and they hated it. It would take two people, one to hold the cat while the other clipped (or tried to clip) their nails without cutting the quick and hurting them. Usually we would fail and end up nicking them and making them bleed which of course made them hate it worse. But that wasn't the only reason why I stopped.
My cats are inside/outside cats and they need their claws to defend themselves with. In my area I have seen opossums, raccoons, and we have one other neighborhood cat that is hugs and loves to bully mine around. What would my cats do if the big bully cat jumped them and they had no claws to defend themselves with?! I recommend to everyone with outside cats to let them have their natural weapons.
