Infection of whipworms can result in bloody diarrhea, weight loss, and general debilitation. Dogs become infected with whipworms by swallowing infective whipworm eggs in the soil or other substances that may contain dog feces. Obtain a fecal sample and bring it to your veterinarian right away so they can provide you with medication to kill the parasites to alleviate symptoms. Looking under the microscope the veterinary technician will determine whipworm eggs. Once determined, the proper medication can be dispensed.
