The main treatment for ovarian tumors is surgical, we basically do a spay, which requires a bigger incision and might require removal of more tissue then during a normal spay, which is why it's somewhat more painful. In any case, postoperative analgesia for at least 5 days is necessary, and NSAIDs are the cornerstone of it.

Firocoxib is a good choice for treatment of perioperative and postoperative pain, it's very effective pain relief and produces fewer gastrointestinal side-effects than other most commonly used ones like meloxicam and carprofen. However if your dog tolerates them, these older NSAIDs are much much cheaper (10x) and just as effective in reducing pain and inflammation.
