Antiseptic drops reduce the inflammation in a dog's ears and prevent a secondary bacterial infection from developing. They are typically used with an antifungal treatment to effectively reduce the yeast overgrowth in the dog's ear canal.
Antiseptic drops are available by prescription or over-the-counter. They vary in effectiveness depending on the brand and active ingredients. Antiseptic drops are not effective at killing the fungi that cause yeast. If your dog has a yeast infection in his ears, then he will also need to be treated with an antifungal ointment or drops.
