Yogurt really is among the best foods around, if you're not allergic to dairy. However it's not a medicine. There are some clinical studies showing certain yogurts relieve symptoms of constipation in humans, and feeding your pet yogurt certainly can't be bad for them (unless they're allergic to dairy). Yogurts contain beneficial bacteria, however their quantities are too low to produce clinical effects, and these bacteria are beneficial part of human microbiome, dogs have different microbiome and require different strains of bacteria. So far only one strain has been identified and proven to be effective in dogs, and there is still more research to be done before we have good database of dogs beneficial probiotics, as we do for humans.
