Fleur was my first hamster ever and even though, it's been almost 8 years since she passed I have a lot of good memories with her. She was a cute beige (almost ginger) Syrian, really patient and friendly, but not very fond of kids. I remember one time she bit my little cousine, while she was playing with her. It ended up with quite a lot of blood and loads of tears ;). As every other hamster she was nocturnal - it meant that the only time I could play with her was a late evening, she always slept throught the whole day. We couldn't put any stuff made from plastic to her cage, because she'd destroy everything - I remember one time I bought her a plastic spinning-wheel. The next day I found it in shreds. As for the cleaning, I always cleaned her cage once in a week and it was enough. She had a little house and she'd always make huge food supplies in there. She also liked building nests, although she never had babies. Without any problems she would let me hold her in my hands and she was rather calm - not lively like most of the hamsters. As for the health she didn't have any problems, except for one time when I took her in her cage outdoors and after that she developed a weird swelling around her eyes. The next day it was gone, but I never took her out again. She passed naturally after 4 years with us.
