I used to own over the years many Siberian Dwarf Hamsters and let me tell if you provide the right environment this breed can live up to 4 years.
I usually get one hamster at a time as i do believe it is very stressful for the animal to share the same cage with other friends.
I got my hamster at a pet shop probably 3 months old when i got him. Very active doesn't like to be handled or touched but at the same time curious and will not shy away when you feed him.
As i mentioned they are very active at night so i would highly recommend opting for a flying saucer wheel it is very quiet.
If you want your cage to be clean i have a good tip for you! Use chinchilla bathing dust as litter just pour it in a small bowl. My hamster loves it and this way your cage will remain relatively clean.
I have to say it's pretty low maintenance and a good starter pet. You will learn how to take care of the basic needs of a pet like change the litter food and water.
Overall I would highly recommend this breed!
