Very cute and tiny little creature. With a variety of foods and snacks one can eat its definately not too hard to dig up some grub for them like meal worms, crickets, veggies, ect. The one I had didn't like being messed with when sleeping, but she was rather fond of the cat who was afraid and ran away from her. The paper stuff in the cage you can make pretty cheap although cleaning a hamster cage or even a mouse cage is pretty much a hassle. And without cleaning it would be unsafe for hamster and a horrible odor in your home. Fun things to do is build tunnel off his or her cage in all kinds of directions and watch them have fun exploring.
