My New Zealand Red Rabbit

Ol' Red was a great rabbit and a prolific buck! He had lots and lots of offspring and was soft and gentle. Rabbits make great pets.
We fed ours rabbit pellets. We also pulled green grass from the pasture to chew on. They also like carrots and lettuce. They'll need a salt source and water.
But beware, if you have both a male and a female together get ready for lots of young ones!
The old proverb about multiplying like rabbits exists for a reason!
They are best kept in a wire cage up off the ground that has an enclosed nest area.
Keeping the cage and nest area cleaned out is important. Smells accumulate quickly, and they can put off a very strong ammonia-like smell.
