The Trouble With Tribbles

I'm not sure if the gerbil I had was a Mongolian, but it did look like that. I just got what the pet shop had.

I thought it would be cute to have an office pet and since all my goldfish got ich and died, a gerbil looked a lot more promising. So, I bought a little plastic habitat for it and took it to the office. She was so cute and friendly. After much debate with my employee, I decided that she looked like a tribble from Star Trek. So, I named her Tribble.

The very next day, Tribble proved worthy of her name. A little too worthy. A litter of gerbils was born. I had no idea Tribble really was a Tribble. Given she was living on the store counter, of course she ate her babies one at a time.

So, I rethought this whole office pet thing and found a good home for Tribble and her one baby that was left.

She was cute and very friendly. But the habitat smells bad. Maybe I should have gotten more of a cage and less of a plastic box, I don't know. She was easy to care for aside from that. I really didn't like the messy, smelly constant cleaning.
