If you've never owned a rabbit before, I highly recommend a satin or a mini satin because they are known for being calm and people-friendly. Sometimes the mini breeds are too hyper and don't want to sit down to be pet, but we were fortunate enough to adopt two mini satin rabbits that are affectionate and follow us around the house like puppies, beg for food, jump on the couch. I think you get a rabbit's full personality when you let them roam the house and explore a few hours a day; rabbits get depressed when they're caged all day. I keep my rabbits in a puppy exercise pen and let them out a few hours a day to play. To tell you a little about my first rabbit: Dorothy is a spayed mini satin mix, about a year and a half old. Her favorite toys are her bunny ramp, castle, her tunnels, and cottontail cottage. She is very food motivated and loves to eat apples, bananas, and any human food she is forbidden to eat she finds a way to sneak a taste. She also loves to be pet. Dorothy is a smart and affectionate girl, and we love her very much!
