Chinchillas

I had 3 female chinchillas. I really enjoyed having them, but gave them away when I decided to go back to school because I felt like I would not have enough time for them. They were very easy to take care of. They ate pellets and timothy hay. They did make a mess with the hay, that was one drawback. It broke my vacuum. The chinchillas were a bit skittish but enjoyed being let out of the cage to run around. They had beautiful fur and were very soft. I would recommend chinchillas as a pet for a family, as they would be good with kids. Mine never had any health problems. They were friendly but not the smartest. I'm not sure if this is true for all chinchillas. Mine weren't really trained other than hanging out with people. They loved raisins.
