Chinchillas - Each with a personality all their own

Chinchillas, when properly socialized are amazing, well rounded pets. The difficulty with rating chinchillas as a whole is that they are individuals. Every chinchilla has a different personality and different tastes. Some chinchillas love being cuddled while others perfer to leap all over you. Some chinchillas are highly active while others are content to just relax. Before one buys a chinchilla they must be knowledgable as to how they are cared for. There is many information out on the internet and in books which is incorrect. The best information comes from chinchilla ranchers (sad, but true) because they raise them from a living and have generally healthy animals. Chinchillas are expensive to start up, but have a low cost to keep and are rather easy to care for other than socializing and being careful to only give them a safe space.
