My sister and I got feeder rats for a low fee. When we heard that they were going to be fed to snakes we were horrified and wanted to save them. As I reached into the enclosure to pick up a rat, dozens of them crawled up my arm. The only one that didn't just looked up at me with beady, little eyes. I was in love. I named him Misfit, since he was the only one to stay behind. He made very little noise and loved to be held. He never got out of his cage. We had to change the bedding every week or so or just whenever it started smelling bad. The food is very inexpensive. I would have kept my rat as long as possible if I didn't have to move across the country. I would recommend a pet rat to anybody interested! Unless your child is too small to not know when it is hurting the animal, I would even recommend this pet to children.
