Acquired: Rescue / shelter organization

I don't have much experience with rats. Kate and Lynn came from a shelter in June. They were rescued from "Horror House", a house with lots of animals (cats, dogs, rats,...) in really bad shape. I always loved mice and rats. I think they are lovely and intelligent animals. People tend to think that rats are hostile and carry a lot of diseases because they are filthy. These are domestic: they go to the vet, they can take a bath from time to time, they are very smart and can learn amazing tricks (check on youtube), they also clean themselves... Rats are extremely active and like company (it's better to have a pair) and easy to feed (even though there are certain aliments they shouldn't eat). There's just one thing you must be really careful about: when getting a pair pay attention if they are both females or both males. If so, they should get along well. If they are a couple in no time you will have a house full of babies. They are really good at it!!
