Keeping A Caracal

I don't recommend that these cats be kept by anyone but a expert. One big problem is that they don't want you to mess with them or approach them when they are feeding. They have been known to attack with no warning when they are feeding.

Males can weigh between 40 - 50 pounds so this is not a cat to be taken lightly. You just about have to feed them by themselves because they will attack each other especially at meal time.

You need an enclosure of at least a half acre to keep these cats in. The enclosure must have a top on it because these cats can jump and climb quite well. If they do escape you will find it very hard to recapture.

It is just for these reasons that I strongly suggest these cats be kept by professionals only or in a zoo. They are a very beautiful cat.
