Pebbles was our family's first guinea pig (out of three total). Guinea pigs make great pets, especially for young children. Pebbles was incredibly playful, and she loved sitting on my lap. She was also active and easy to interact with. When she was hungry or wanted attention, she would make cute squeaking sounds. When she was REALLY excited, she did little jumps known as "popcorning."

While guinea pigs are easy enough to take care of, make sure you clean your cavy's cage every week or so! They get messy, especially if you have more than one guinea pig.
