Guinea Pigs, never again

When my daughter was 7, she wanted a pet. A friend of mine had two to give away, so we took them. Big mistake. They were handled a lot when my friend owned them and my daughter played with them every day. They never did respond to us at all. Everyday they hid in the cage when Marie tried to get them. Once caught, they acted scared and nervous.
They were also dirty, very dirty. And stink, did they ever stink. We put new bedding in their cages everyday and could still smell them from every room of the house.
All R.J. and George was good for was eating, sleeping, pooping and making a mess of everything.
I can say one thing, they were very healthy. When they died they were both 5, which from what I understand, is old age for a Guinea Pig.
