This animal, although very mild-tempered, doesn't exactly respond well to petting/holding. Do not let children try to handle the guinea pig; it will attempt to bite them. When they are hungry they will be very vocal; you will never forget to feed them. They enjoy a variety of stimulation, and are very content mammals. If properly trained, they will be more "polite" to potential handlers; however that takes some time.
