Copperheads are truly one of the most beautiful snakes to look at. They are stunning snakes and the contrast of colors on their scales is impeccable. They are a great species for first time venomous keepers as they are very calm and relaxed animals once they have reached maturity and are well routinized with their whereabouts and their owner. They do however possess moderately strong cytotoxic venom (that is almost always understated). It is not as strong as rattlesnakes and other larger pit-viper species but still strong enough to cause a lot of damage. They are very snappy as babies and they will bite you if you get your fingers too close. They make a great addition to any venomous snake collection. Once adults they are normally super tame and will are extremely curious snakes that will spend time roaming around and exploring if given the opportunity.
