Lots more work than I thought

My tortoise, Jack, I had for only a short while before he escaped.

I bought him because I thought a tortoise would be a good pet for my small apartment in Miami which didn't allow most pets. I thought it would require minimal care.

We had to invest in a fairly expensive glass enclosure and lots of bedding and things for his enclosure, but the worst was cleaning it. His feces had a horrible smell and there was very little interaction we could do with Jack. He couldn't play and didn't like to be handled.

He eventually escaped from my grandmother's balcony onto the golf course adjacent to her house while I was on vacation and my grandma was "tortoise-sitting".

I wouldn't buy another tortoise again.
