Help! My Slider run away

When ever I tell the story about a turtle running away from me, people laugh. They do not realise that this slider is a really fast guy.
Yea, it seems to them as I am the lazy person again, letting my turtle escape.
...I got my slider when I didn't knew much about them in a pet shop, and now I would not recommend that.
When you start thinking about getting one, make sure you first learn at least something about them, workers at the pet store may not always know everything about them you need to know when you want to keep them as pets. So you may provide them a good and healthy life.
I took one more slider a couple of years after him, and than the problems begun. The new turtle died a few weeks later, but he got infected.
I was the problem, I started to learn really late about them... so Schiggy had a huge problem- chronic conjunctivitis. Having in mind that these turtles live up to 30+ years it was really sad that mine passed away with only 8years.

So my best advice is to learn about your pets before you bring them home, and make sure you are always learning something till they are with you.
