I was afraid of snakes, but fascinated, before I met Monty. I wanted to hold her, and went back to the pet store every day for a week to see her. She was only tiny at the time, but I was told that she will grow to 9 feet. In the end, I had to get her, and I am so glad that I did.

Monty is a fantastic pet to own. She only needs to be fed every week or so, or even less, if need be. (Snakes can go up to a month without feeding) Her enclosure was expensive, and we will need to enlarge it soon as she has grown so much, but generally she is an inexpensive pet to keep. Yearly license fees also need to be taken into account.

Obviously, a snake is not exactly a 'cuddly' pet, but they are fascinating, and definitely have their own personalities, just like any other animal. After a shaky start, Monty and I are now the best of friends, and she is a great conversation piece when we have guests. Kids absolutely love her, too.
