My pet iguana was one of the coolest pets I have ever owned. I had it for 3 years and then had to give it to a zoo because I was leaving the country and they would take good care of it.
They are very mellow and beautiful animals to look at. If you have one since they are small, they get used to people and never act defensive at all. Just be careful not to drop the Iguana if you like resting it on your shoulders.
You can feed this animals fruit and vegetables and they pretty much like most of them. Mine loved watermelon and apples. Also lettuce and radish would be some of the stuff it would eat faster. They are very healthy animals and mine never looked or acted sick in any way. They love to take sunbaths so make sure you let yours catch some sunrays every day is possible.
I had mine in an enclosure in my backyard with plenty of space and no dogs around that could harm it. It had a roof on half of the space and the sun would come in the other half to give it the options to be in the shade if it wanted to.
