Heathcliff was a rescue- someone had threatened to set him free if I didn't take him- and I'm glad that I did. A beautiful lizard, Heathcliff preferred to be on his own and wasn't happy unless he had things to burrow into. He would snap when first held, though he calmed down once he felt safe. Easy to care for with your standard heat lamp and coconut bedding, Heathcliff enjoyed both crickets and meal worms. Again, not for those who prefer their animals extremely active or apt to enjoy long periods of handling. They are also quite long lived for skinks. Never pick them up by the tail, which means this lizard is not suitable for families with younger children.
