Skeith, the very tough fire skink

Skeith was a fire skink that I purchased from the pet store. He was very friendly and was a wonderful pet. The scales were mostly black and he was at times hard to spot especially at night time. Overall, he was a very gorgeous creature.
Caring for Skeith was fairly simple. His diet consisted mostly of crickets with the occasional odd fruit. All the insects I fed Skeith were always alive and he would not like to eat them if they were not.
After getting my fire skink from the pet shop, he was very shy at first. He was constantly burrowing himself and I was concerned that something was wrong. To my surprise, this is actually quite normal among skinks when they first come to a new home. I was informed that 1-2 weeks is the normal adjusting time when moving homes. Skeith still continued to burrow himself after the initial weeks, but not nearly as much.
For Skeiths home, I kept him in a small sized tank and always kept fresh water. It was rather simple to keep him healthy and his tank clean. He was also very gentle to handle. I would recommend this pet to anyone. Even kids would be able to watch after a fire skink once learning the proper procedure.
