Emeralds are beautiful, but can be pretty nasty.  Most arboreal snakes have quite a temperament, and have been known to strike without warning. You must be very gentile when working with these snakes, and you must make slow, smooth movements. You really shouldn't purchase one of these snakes unless you are very well read up on them, and you have had experience with arboreals before.  They can be pretty high maintenance, requiring a specific temperature, humidity, and cage set-up. But, if you are qualified, owning an Emerald can be rewarding.
