Painted Turtle

I absolutely adore my little Paint Turtle. He was given to me from someone who found him hurt on the side of the road so I took him in and rehabbed him. He was missing nearly all the skin on his back leg (I'm assuming from skidding across the blacktop when a car drove by). He's made a great recovery and has an amazing little personality. Whenever he sees me, he comes right over to the edge of his pool and starts desperately trying to get over to me. They are always begging like this for food. So cute!

Aquatic Turtles are very easy to take care of as long as you keep up on the constant cleaning of their water. There are many tools out there now that make this super easy though. I only gave them a low rating on temperament and ease of handling because they really aren't pets that are meant to be carried around and played with. They are more of a display animal as many don't actually like being picked up and they can and will bite.

Turtles are a great pet for anyone really. Kids love to watch them, but always remember never to let fingers get too close. Supervision is needed.
