The Dumeril Monitor is a medium sized monitor and is very similar in appearance and in temperament to the well known Bosc Monitor. They are a great species of Lizard to keep and do very well in captivity. I love to keep these monitors and Although they require lots of space and outdoor caging, if you provide them with the space they need they will do ve3ry well and be a lot more relaxed than those kept in small inadequate cages. They love to soak themselves in water and require large water bowls large enough to soak themselves completely. They are ferrocious feeders and will bite at anything that they think is food. Don't forget to feed them with a very tong set of tongs and not to just put your fingers in the cage without thinking as they have very strong jaws and a powerful bite. A great species of Monitor Lizard for advanced keepers.
