A corn snake is one of the easiest and best type of snake to keep, which is why it is often recommended to those who are starting out raising snakes. Incredibly peaceful, this non-venomous snake does not require much from you aside from the basics. It is easy to feed and can actually be handled at any time, though I would still suggest that you do it at a regular time to keep stress levels down. It is very enjoyable watching this snake move about and I would often go awww as I watched it yawn or flick its tongue. Even just raising its head to look at me curiously was adorable. Despite appearances, this snake is surprisingly silky-smooth and delicate to the touch. When well taken care of, it can live to a ripe old age of over 20.

If you're just starting to raise snakes, I say start with this one to get a feel of how to go about caring for them. I guarantee you will find your hours entertained :).
