Snapping turtles are abundant here in Minnesota among the lakes area. They can grow to massive sizes in comparison to painted turtles. Snappers are aggressive and shouldn't be teased. Of course they aren't all that quick but they are harmful if they were to bite you. I wouldn't recommend them as a pet and if you do, you should know ALOT about how to care for one. I have heard of many failed attempts of keeping a snapping turtle. Some will also say they are extremely tasty to eat! I can't honestly recommend that either but to each their own.
