Turtles can be a fun alternative to your boring aquarium fish. Depending on the the sociability of your turtle he or she may be one who enjoys long, slow walks on the grass or a visit to your backyard pond. Turtles are best kept inside due to raccoons and other predators in your yard. Turtles are easily maintained with a tank, filter system and a heat rock. They have a basic diet of turtle flakes if you keep it simple but they love to get vegetable treats especially lettuce. The more swimming space, the more content your turtle will be, make sure they are not too cramped up. Turtles are not necessarily active creatures but they get their workout trying to get all the food pebbles up that scatter through the water.
