The Grey Ratsnake (Pantherophis spiloides) is widely kept in captivity and is a very nice snake for beginners to keep. Much like Corn Snakes they are calm, relaxed snakes and are very manageableable and an easy starter snake for beginner keepers. I would argue that the only reason why these aren't just as popular as cornsnakes is because of all the Corn Snake color morphs that came available to the public. These snakes are easy to clean and little maintenance is necessary. I would recommend these to any beginner keeper. They are beautiful snakes and will make any owner very happy.
