Carpet pythons are beautiful and interesting to work with. They come in a decent variety of morphs and can be handled by adults with experience (if they are regularly handled). Generally strong eaters and easy to maintain habitats make them essentially simple to raise and enjoy.
They can be more aggressive than a ball python or other entry level reptile. They are also significantly longer and heavier due to that length so ensure you're physically able to handle them. This is not a generally friendly snake so understand that you may experience more defensive or food strikes than with more docile options. In my experience frozen/thawed feedings are a little more challenging; Carpet Pythons generally prefer feeding live.
