The Black Tree Monitor (Varanus beccarii) or Beccari's monitor is a relatively small member of the Varanidae family, growing to about 90–120 cm in length. They are one of the most amazing species of Monitor Lizards on the planet and are like miniature dragons. Their dark black skin and curly prehensile tails make them one of the strangest lizards, They are completely carnivorous and will devourer anything that that smells like meat. They require large tall cages as they need space to climb. They do very well on mice and insects and will even accept pieces of chicken and raw meat as adults. An amazing species but only suitable for advanced keepers.
