Spike is a female Bearded Dragon purchased from a pet shop by friends. As we often do, we were pet sitting this lovely lady for a friend, glass enclosure included. Spike is no too difficult to take care of but she does need a few things that cannot be neglected. To keep spike healthy she needs an enclosure with a sun lamp and regulator to keep her at a nice comfortable Australian warmth, she won't live in a cold climate in the wild so best not to make her do that as your much loved pet. Contrary to some peoples beliefs she needs water too. Even though she can last a long time without drinking water, and gets moisture from food, she will be a much happier sun baker with water close. And if it's large enough and shallow enough you'll probably catch her splashing about or just lazing in the water. Her favourite food is by far dandelions (before the flower pod blooms) along wth grated carrots and sweet potato. And of course like all reptiles she'll eat insects you catch, breed or buy.
She'll shed her skin as she grows which is simple to clean up however, be warned ........When she poops it can smell pretty bad. About a 9/10 on the stinky scale.
