Several years ago I bought a baby bearded dragon, not knowing how big he would get. He went from a cute little lizard to big handsome boy in no time. Rex was so easy to take care of although the setup is a little cumbersome. He would eat fruits and veggies, especially corn, kale, and strawberries. But he loved live crickets and it was always fun to watch him chase them. He loved to play and would crawl all over you, fantastic with kids. Although the was easy to take care of, it was still a tedious routine. I had to bathe him in a small washbin pretty frequently and he would get pretty scratchy sometimes but eventually calmed down. If you're thinking about getting a bearded dragon definitely go for it if you have the time to play with it and bathe it like it needs. And be warned, they do shed and hibernate! My parents didn't know this and while I was away at camp they actually buried him thinking he had died. Just a few days later my neighbor found him in his garden and has kept him ever since. He actually turned out to be a girl and started laying eggs! She lived several more years in my neighbors care and passed away just last year.
